AIMS
It focuses on the development of the capacities and competencies of education and training professionals, and it aims to contribute to their continuous professional development, or to the “development of the role of education and vocational training professionals”.
The project intends to transfer the results of the former SLOOP project (LdV, I/05/B/F/PP-154194), that received a final evaluation grade of 9/10 from the Italian National Agency; specifically, it aims to promote the updating of teachers through the acquisition of new digital competencies, of new languages and communication tools, as well as to spread the practice of sharing and developing Open Educational Resources - or free/open LO – cooperatively, according to the terminology adopted in SLOOP.
Teachers from high schools in Italy, Romania, Slovenia and Ireland, will be involved in online courses in which, by means of the learning by doing methodology defined in the SLOOP project, and in particular by means of a collaborative on line production of educational resources, they will be guided in the definition and creation of open LOs for students, based on competence systems.
For this purpose, the project will refer to the European Qualification Framework (EQF), the reference framework adopted by the EU Parliament and Council in April 2008 to establish the general criteria for comparing the systems of qualification and competencies developed and/or adopted in EU countries. The introduction of the EQF system in the professional updating of teachers responds to a specific priority of vocational training in Europe: “to develop the role of professionals in education and training in relation to the systemic transformation such as the evolution towards systems based on the outcomes of learning and competencies”.
Since EQF is a system based on competencies, training teachers about it becomes a strategic choice which is crucial for developing their knowledge about evaluation systems that enterprises use ever more frequently to select young people when they complete their high school studies. Teachers will be able to get useful indications to “develop pedagogical competencies” which can be applied in educational activities that take into consideration the evaluation systems, and lead to greater “involvement in the drawing up of study programs”. Finally, it will help to “improve the links between education and training professionals and the world of work”.
In Italy teacher training in EQF will be carried out by means of the development of educational resources regarding a specific European model to certify competencies, the EUCIP system. The Irish, Romanian and Slovenian partners will identify a system of certification of competencies that is particularly important for the educational and training system in their countries.
